Drive New Zealand's longest driveable beach - Ripiro Beach (no, the longest beach is not the 90 Mile Beach - enjoy our 128 kms of wild paradise). Check with locals for tide times and 4WD recommended, but not essential. Take a round trip to the bottom of the Pouto Peninsula by road and return by beach or vice versa. Baylys Beach is an ideal starting or finishing point, with the Funky Fish cafe a perfect start or finish to your adventure. If you prefer, take a 4WD beach tour with a local operator who will point out the up to 140 shipwrecks along the Kaipara coast.
Transportation - Tangowahine Farmstay Dargaville
From Dargaville take SH14 to Whangarei and turn Left at Tangowahine (10k) we are a further 10k up the road on the right and easy to spot day or night. From Whangarei take SH14 to Dargaville after aprox 40k turn right at Tangowahine we are a further 10k up the road on the right. From up North (Bay of Islands Hokianga etc.) The quickest route is through Kaikohe via Murrays road. This is signposted and a sealed route all the way signifficantly quicker (55k v 148k) so it's worth checking your road maps but ensure you head towards Dargaville at PAKOTAI (signposted) as a few maps somehow show this junction at Parakao
